Introduction

As the cold season begins, there might be people who get anxious and want to stay at home all the time. Nevertheless, winter can be an exciting season especially to those people who are experiencing winter in Japan for the first time. Based on the old Japanese Calendar, the month of  December is referred to as “Shiwasu” signifying the busiest time of the year since you have tasks that need to be completed before the year-end and New Year. For instance, winter tends to be a season that is filled with hustle and bustle, making it easy for stress to accumulate. In this article, we will introduce ways on how to relax during winter with both indoor and outdoor activities.

Winter Indoor Activities

  1. Utilize Winter Items

Japan offers many unique winter items that are effective in making you warm during the cold season. One example is ‘Kotatsu’, a table with a built-in heater, has been a beloved winter item in Japan for a long time because it brings comfort since you can use the kotatsu as a tabletop for working, eating, reading etc and its is also great for taking naps as you can lie down with the lower half of your body warmed by the heat inside. Additionally, trying out different winter items such as thermos, wearable blankets, and hot eye masks can not only keep you warm but also add a new level of enjoyment to the winter season. The said items can be found in a nearby drugstore or interior shop on your way home or nearby the Ikebukuro campus.

This is such a good article for any E-Track Student who is planning to stay in Japan during the winter vacation! I just became a 2nd year student and living in Japan for all the 3 months during the winter sure did teach me a lot! We are all from different countries, communities and of course, that means the environments and the weather patterns we all grew up were different. Needless to say, living away from your parents means that you will feel even more lonelier. Doing lot of part time might also take a toll on your mental and physical conditions. Therefore, make sure to treat yourself well and buy something to keep you going through out the three months of winter. Make sure you start planning ahead with your friends so that you will feel at ease when winter comes! Girls & Guys you should put yourself first always! Mental and Physical both!
